Design On The Grid … Rewritten or cloaked

With the advent of 3D printing the only limitations of creativity are the size of the printer… and the imagination.

The Throne Of Paris – John Briscella

John Briscella’s thought-provoking design merges the private interior of the home with the public space of the city.  His chair––or throne, as it is more appropriately titled––was made by molding a 3D printed map of Paris around a Louis XIV chair, and subsequently aluminum anodizing the plastic  substructure.

“The modern city is controlled by the grid – We should not let the grid control your creativity!” So says Urbanist John Briscella who is now showing works in response to experiencing modern city grids at the WALKING CHAIR gallery in Vienna.

John Briscella’s projects communicate new spacial concepts for cities by introducing simple ideas into everyday life and surroundings. From the smallest iterations, to large-scale urban compositions, the works respond to experiencing environments in their contextual relationship to the observer.

3D Printing today consist of many products with generative geometric patterning… These topological hexagons and varying primary shapes seem to make the product a definitive work, showing relationship of the pattern to the product.  Briscella by combining the Louis XIV Chair and the city map of Paris, the 3D patterning was overlaid and molded, creating  a union and the product have similar semantics. Stories of their union could be told or reinvented…

The design works in several ways:

First, it is a shell of the existing Louis XIV chair. It can function as a camouflage or protection of the chair.  Also, it can exist as it own piece of furniture. Your able to sit upon the throne of Paris.

Coupled with the development of 3-D printing now in it’s infant stages of creating form from layers of repetitive and selective processing – now scientist are close to creating a cloaking device that will renders people, items, vessels invisible … currently the process works to render items invisible to thermal disclosure but they are close to completing experiments…on cloaking for scientific and security and other purposes.

Color Theory … Color Of The Year 2014

Introducing Radiant Orchid: PANTONE 2014 Color of the Year
Since 2000, the Pantone Color Institute™ has been designating a Color of the Year to express in color what is taking place in the global zeitgeist. A color that will resonate around the world, the PANTONE Color of the Year is a reflection of what people are looking for, what they feel they need that color can help to answer. Not necessarily the hot fashion color of the moment, but a color crossing all areas of design which is an expression of a mood, an attitude, on the part of the consumers.

To distill the prevailing mood into a single hue, the PCI team, led by executive director Leatrice Eiseman, combs the world looking for future design and color influences, watching out for that one color seen as ascending and building in importance through all creative sectors. Influences can include the entertainment industry, upcoming films, art, emerging artists, travel destinations and socio-economic conditions. Influences may also stem from technology, lifestyles + playstyles, new textures and effects that impact color, and even upcoming sports events that capture worldwide attention.
With each unique color shade having its own special symbolism, an additional key consideration is the emotional component and the inherent meaning of the color.
The color for 2014? The captivating, magical and enchanting Radiant Orchid. An invitation to innovation, modern and versatile Radiant Orchid encourages creativity and originality. Imbued with a harmony of fuchsia, purple and pink undertones, Radiant Orchid inspires confidence and its rosy undertones emanate great joy, love and health.

Exploring the Flavor of Ancient Cultures…and the “Q”of Ancient Temples Led to Design for R & R Tauqueria…

Mindset ~ As an avid viewer of the History Channel – H2 and a follower of the Ancient Aliens with an interest on the Historic Take on the Aztec and the surrounding regions of Mexico … we have provided our client Chief Rod of R & R Taqueria … the flavor of ancient times, with present day technology … while conceiving to operate his growing palate of Mexican Cuisine within the Maryland and neighboring regions.  At R & R, their focus is on creating a National Brand.

Concept Creation ~ Since that first book on Eric Von Daniken, we were deeply enthralled into the possibility of other worldly beings in the universe… and that we are not alone… Some findings show that ancient cultures built structures … that current philosophers, archaeologist are still scratching their heads with each layer of soil that is removed and evidence is unveiled each day… How were those monolithic stones moved, stacked and placed with seamless integration… It does make you wonder … if they had help from above … or they possessed special powers that modern day humanoids do not yet have a grasp on…

The Design ~ In our designs we are relaying that with every footprint lies it’s unique possibilities, but we are striving for a consistent footprint for each design venture we undertake … and to this balance between everyday living and in this exercise balancing a menu and environment … towards perfection of the feast and the flair of it”s Chef Rod.

Content & Culture ~ Examples of early Columns and Iconography influenced our articulated column approach to supporting the horizontal beam members, that are accentuated, placed and interacted in an angular manner.

Branding ~ Early Logo  Concept and incorporation of restroom doors are adorned with stylized and hybridized gender and vegetable icons – Get Nod by Chef Rod.

When team mindsets align results prove valuable in assisting and creating a successful model for R & R Tauqueria.  Chef Rod was featured the Food Network Diners, Drive-in and Dives, with Guy Fieri.  Stay tuned for future developments…
